Feast Day July 27
St. Pantaleon was born in Nicomedia in Asia Minor. he became of physician of great renown and was converted to Christianity by a zealous priest, Hermolaus. Then he distributed his wealth to the poor. He received the gift of miracles, and ministered to the sick in soul as well as the sick in body. Among his converts was his heathen father. After being tortured, he was imprisoned and died in the year 303 under the persecution of the Emperor Diocletian.
St. Pantaleon is pictured as a Greek youth dressed in tunic, bearing a sword and holding a martyrs palm in his hand. He is patron of physicians and of the sick. His help is implored in sickness, in abandonment and to obtain the grace of true penance.
