Feed the Good Wolf

From the Desk of Father David

Dear Parishioners and Friends in Christ,

We have now crossed over into the season of Lent, may we support each other with our prayers and actions so this will be a time growing closer to Jesus and each other.  There is an American Indian Legend that states that there are two wolves that live in each of us, one good and one evil.  Whichever one you feed is the one that grows.  Some cultures mention that both need to be fed.  We see this idea in the Old Testament of the Bible where it says love your neighbor and hate your enemy.  As we heard last Sunday, Jesus said “love your enemy.”  He is promoting that you only feed one wolf, the good one.  When we believe everything, we read or hear, without seeking the truth, we can be easily lead astray.  Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”  Every time we seek the truth, we are really seeking Jesus.  There are so many rumors and falsehoods that are being spread.  May we together seek the truth, and not be instruments of spreading these lies, even when we think they might be true.  If something is true, we need to discern if speaking this truth will do good or do damage.

Holy Trinity, You know the hearts of all people.  During this Lenten Season may Your  grace enable us to become more like You and may our bad habits no longer cling to us.

In Lenten peace,

Fr. David
