The Journey
From the Desk of Father David
Dear Friends in Christ,
I believe that this year is going to be a magnificent year for Fourteen Holy Helpers Parish, because of new activities, bringing back some pre-Covid activities and doing some older traditions. This combination of activities will breathe more life into our parish. I am very excited and ask God’s blessings on our endeavors, your prayers, and your assistance. The Family choir is off to a great start and is looking for more members. I thank our Adult Choir for being very patient as we are searching for a new music director and for them singing on the Feast of the Epiphany. I do miss Patrick Barrett more now than ever. The Epiphany Offertory Procession was a wonderful addition to our celebration last Sunday. The parish is offering a breakfast on January 22nd after the 9 o’clock Mass.
I am especially excited about the booklet you will soon be receiving. The booklet, The Journey: My personal Journey With Jesus Christ is a dynamic way of growing closer to Jesus. It is designed to be used any time of the year and so there is no rush to complete it during the Lent or Easter Seasons. They will be given out in a few weeks at Mass and available at the rectory. The parish is also planning to start small groups based on the program called The Journey. This program uses different books, videos, and small group discussions. You might remember when parishes did the Renew program and how it created new long-lasting friendships and enabled people to grow spiritually. I believe The Journey program has the same potential. As parishioners approach this experience with an open heart, I know they will receive many beautiful blessings. There will be training of small group leaders by Sister Louise Alff on January 30th at 6:30 pm and on February 3rd at 9:30 am. Watch the bulletin for more details about how you can participate in The Journey program.
Almighty God we can not accomplish anything with out Your blessings. Please bless our individual and parish endeavors so that they may be brought to a successful completion for our well being and Your glory. Also we ask all Your blessings upon all parishes and those individual who are hurting. Amen.
Christ’s peace,
Fr. David
