Parish Updates
From the Desk of Father David
Dear Parishioners and Friends,
I want to update you on important matters.
After thirty-four years, Mr. Patrick Barrett will be retiring from being the Music Director of Fourteen Holy Helpers. The 10:30 Mass on July 31st, will be his last Mass as Director of Music. I will definitely miss him. We will have a parish celebration after this Mass, so please plan on attending and joining me in wishing him a wonderful retirement. I will be looking for a new organist with the ability to lead a choir.
For 169 years our Church building has been the home for people seeking God. The northeast corner of the original building is in need of major repairs. Therefore, we have made this project the most important. The bids are coming in from twenty to fifty thousands dollars. The committee is researching what is the best course of action.
Summerfest is on August 4, 5, 6 and 7th. This is a very important fund raiser for the parish. You can help by inviting family and friends to attend, by volunteering, and by buying and selling raffle tickets. The raffle is our “insurance policy” against rain. Strong raffle sales insure that we will make a good profit even if it rains. Thank you for all you do for our faith community.
Parish Council is in the process of setting up three subcommittees that will focus on strengthening the parish in areas of parish life, education and communication. I am excited to see the Council moving in this powerful direction. The Council is working on descriptions and is hoping that parishioners will join with their efforts to build a strong parish.
Almighty God heal our wounds and move us from apathy to fullness of life. Send forth Your creative Spirit out into the chaos of our lives and world and once again create something beautiful and wonderful. We ask this blessing to be granted through Christ our Lord. Amen.
In peace,
Fr. David
