Happy and Blessed Mother’s Day!

From the Desk of Father David

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Happy and Blessed Mother’s Day!

Today we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday and Mother’s Day.  Both God the Father and Jesus share the title of Good Shepherd.  We are familiar with the Good Shepherd Psalm number 23.  It is a wonderful psalm that reminds us that God shepherds us every moment of our lives.  He celebrates the good times with us and guides us through the bad times.  The key is tuning our ears to His voice so we can follow Him.  There are so many voices in our world and within us trying to get our attention, that is why it takes effort to discern His voice.  Actions that assist us are reading the Scriptures, developing our prayer connection with Christ, trying to understand Church teachings, seeking guidance of faith filled individuals, asking Jesus to help you see your life as He sees it, and seeking to understand your motives and that of others.  We have been hearing in the Acts of the Apostles of how important the role of the community is in enabling its members to stay focused on Christ and not to be swallowed up by the world.

As we honor mothers today we are grateful they did their best to try to hold the family community together.  We ask God to bless all mothers, godmothers and those others who mother us.

Jesus thank You for giving us the gift of your mother, Mary.  Through Mary please bless all mothers and those who show us a mother’s love.  For those who have died welcome them to your Heavenly table and for those living bless them with all they need especially your love, peace, healing and wisdom. Amen.

In Easter joy,

Fr. David
