Live Life Abundantly

Dear Friends in Christ,

             Why is faith in Jesus Christ so important?  Is faith just about making us good people?  Definitely not!  In John’s gospel, Jesus said I have come so that you may have life abundantly.  Faith is about living life abundantly.  In the book Praying with the Scriptures by Maureen Gallagher, Clare Wagner, O.P., and David Woeste, they say that there are four different “persons” in each of us: (1) the person I think I am: (2) the person you think I am: (3) the person I really am: (4) the person I can become.  As our relationship with Jesus grows deeper, our understanding of these four facets of ourselves and of the world grows deeper.  Thereby, we begin to see the everything from God’s point of view.  St. Paul would refer to this as putting on the mind of Christ.  We do this by: praying with the Scriptures, reading the writings of the Saints, documents of the Church, especially the Second Vatican Council Documents, and knowing your faith.  Pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance in all that you do.

May the Holy Spirit enliven your faith in Jesus and fill you to overflowing with peace, goodwill and love for Jesus and others.
