Activity in our Parish
From the Desk of Father David
Dear Parishioners,
Happy and Blessed Advent! Advent is off to a wonderful start. If you need an Advent Reflection book they are still available in the Church or call the rectory,
716-674-2374. During Advent Confession times are Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, Saturday 3:00 – 4:00. All confessions are heard in the sacristy where it is spacious and private. Please don’t wait for the last minute.
We are trying a new time, on Friday afternoon December 10th there will be an Advent Reflection offered by Sr. Elizabeth Mackowiak at 1:30 pm in the Convent.
Sr. Elizabeth gave many retreats at the Columban Center. She is a Spiritual Director for many individuals. Come and enjoy this beautiful afternoon. You need to R.S.V.P. to the rectory to let us know you are coming.
Lessons and Carols presented by the children will take place on Saturday December 11th at 9:30 in the Church. On the weekend of the 12th we will also being the tradition of wrapping the infant Jesus Statue to help us remember that Jesus is the best gift of Christmas. See the bulletin for more details and other Advent celebrations. The professional looking Advent banner in the Church was created by Suzanne Pionessa, our parish secretary. If you have come when it is dark, you will have noticed the new lights installed by the side entrance of the Church crosswalk. These lights were installed by the Parish to light up the crosswalk to keep parishioners safe. The project got delayed because of the pandemic. The approximate cost for the parish was $7,500. The last part is to light the Sacred Heart statue. The cost would have been doubled if we would have to hired a company. Thanks to Rick Donovan our business manager and much gratitude to David Friol our maintenance man who made it happened. The statue of
St. Francis on the convent looks like new. We have lighted the statue of St. Joseph and installed a flower bed in front of it to honor St. Joseph, especially during this year which is devoted to him. The next big project is to repair the brick work on the Church. A few areas are very bad. A special thanks to Tom and Michelle Palczynski who did a lot to keep the flower beds in front of the Church looking beautiful all Summer and Fall.
Many wonderful things are happening thanks to your generosity of time, talent and treasure. May our loving God fill you with peace and joy during this Season. May your eyes and ears be open to see the wonder of Jesus’ presence in your daily activities.
In Advent longing,
Fr. David
