Passages for Prayer
From the Desk of Father David
Dear Friends in Christ,
Take time to pray with each of the following passages or pick just one. Let the passage become one with you as you imagine the words are being spoken directly to you. It might help to picture Jesus sitting with you as you reflect upon these Scripture passages.
Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom. Luke12:32
Cast all your worries upon Him because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
The Lord watches over you. Psalm 121:5
Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you: my peace I give you. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3: 5-6
“Come now, let us reason together,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” Isaiah 1:18
Be strong and courageous. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
Lord be gracious to us; for You we wait. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of trouble. Isaiah 33:2
“I will call this to mind, as my reason to have hope: The favors of the Lord are not exhausted, His mercies are not spent; they are renewed each morning, so great is His faithfulness.” Lament 3: 21-23
This past Friday was the feast of St. Theresa of Avila, so I would like to end with the prayer she kept in her prayer book.
Let nothing trouble you, let nothing frighten you, all things are passing; God does not change. Patience achieves all things. Whoever has God wants for nothing. God alone suffices.
Peace and comfort,
