Deep down we are called
From the Desk of Father David
Dear Friends in Christ,
In the Book of Joshua, Joshua challenges the people to make a choice either to serve God or false god. We are asked each day to renew our commitment to serve God. The situations we find ourselves in each day challenges us to renew our commitment to Christ and His Church. Deep down inside we know we are called to stand tall and walk with Christ. Jesus knows we need help, so He has given us the Sacraments to strengthen us. Especially the Sacrament of the Eucharist in which we receive in Holy Communion the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus. We might know this intellectually, but we need to ask God to help our faith in the Real Presence of Jesus to grow, so that our words and actions will witness this truth to others.
Almighty Father thank you for giving us Your Son, Jesus. Thank you Jesus for wanting to be so close to us that You are willing to feed us with Your own Body and Blood. Help us to appreciate this wonderful gift of Yourself and transform us so we can be Your presence to everyone we meet. Amen.
Peace and healings,
Fr. David
The following passage is reprinted from an article
by Fr. Mark Illig.
Here is a prayer exercise to intercede for others and increase your love for Jesus:
“Spend some time in becoming aware of the presence of Jesus and in getting in touch with Him…
Imagine that Jesus floods you with His life and light and power…See the whole of your being, in imagination, lit up by this light that comes from Him…
Now imagine, one by one, the persons you wish to pray for. Lay your hands on each person, communicating to him or her all the life and power you have just received from Christ…Take your time with each individual…call down Christ’s love on him wordlessly…See him light up with Christ’s life and love…See him transformed…
Then move on to the next person…and the next…”
This exercise, when done on a daily basis will not only help those you are praying for, but will transform you into a more loving, Christ-like person.
