Listen to the Holy Spirit

From the Desk of Father David

Dear Friends in Christ,

Next weekend we celebrate Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. It is also a time for you to remember your Baptism and Confirmation when the Holy Spirit came upon you.  The Holy Spirit gives life to all of creation.  With all that is happening in our world now is the time to renew our commitment to following the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  God’s voice is heard when we quiet our minds and hearts so we can open ourselves up to experiencing God.  You might be in a traffic jam, a line at the checkout, walking from one office to another, or any  other time you have to wait is a good time to slow down and listen to the Holy Spirit.  To do this simply take a few deep breaths and call upon God to be with you in that moment.  Watch the wonderful things that happen.

Come Holy Spirit and renew us and our leaders in Your sevenfold gifts: Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding, Right Judgement (Counsel), Courage (Fortitude), Wonder and Awe (Fear of the Lord), and Reverence (Piety).

Grant, O merciful Father, that your Divine Spirit may enlighten, inflame and purify us, that He may penetrate us with His heavenly dew and make us fruitful in good works, through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who with You, in the unity of the same Spirit, lives and reigns, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

In Easter joy,

Fr. David
