It Takes a Village

From the Desk of Father David

Dear Friends in Christ,

In today’s first reading we hear Samuel saying to the Lord, “Speak Lord for your servant is listening.”  Samuel will become an instrument for the Lord so that others can be drawn closer to God.  What is the Lord asking you to do?

How many people does it take to celebrate a Sunday Mass?  More than you probably realize.  here is the list: priest, lector, Eucharistic minister, ideally a musician and cantor, greeters, ushers, those who will clean after each Mass, camera person for live streaming, someone to handle the podcast and especially those who attend.  Over 25,000 times our podcast have been downloaded.  Concerning Christmas, Suzanne and Joy were outstanding in creating a system and handling reservations.  Especially their attention to those who had special needs. Thank you to Patrick for playing so many Masses and to the other musicians and cantors who made Christmas special.  The parish was able to have so many Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses because some of the volunteers and ministers were willing to assist at two or three celebrations. Because of only having a small number of ministers and volunteers many of them are on every week or at least every other week.  We are very fortunate to have other priest to assist us.  I am so grateful to all who make our Masses and great celebrations possible .  I hope you are thankful for them.

May Almighty God help us to clearly hear all that He is asking of us for our well being and for the betterment of others.  May He give us the strength and courage to say yes to Him, like the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph.

Peace and healing,

Fr. David
