Lessons from the Wise Men
From the Desk of Father David
Dear Parishioners and Friends in Christ,
Please pray with the account of the Wise Men found in the Gospel of Matthew 2:1-15.
The Wise Men teach us four important lessons:
1. Their plans changed when they realized the importance of the star. Stay alert and open to new possibilities to see where God is leading you. Remember God is the God of surprises.
2. It took the Wise Men a year or more to find Jesus and during their journey they traveled through many countries and had new encounters with people and their customs. Enjoy the journey through life, especially the simple events and the people you meet.
3. The Wise Men didn’t know their destination or what dangers they might encounter, but even with all these uncertainties they were willing to set out and do homage to the new born king. Don’t let fear guide you, let the light of Christ guide you.
4. Remember the Wise Men were able to discern the difference from a regular dream and a dream from God. All of life is a journey of growing closer to Jesus, keep watch and listen for His voice which comes to you in so many different ways..
Take a few moments to recall some of the wonderful experiences you have had and thank Jesus for them.
Almighty God we need your help in all the areas of our life. We need You to help us recognize Your Presence and to hear Your voice guiding us through the uncertainties of life. We also thank you for all you have done and will continue to do for us. In Jesus’ name we ask you to come and save us.
In Christmas peace,
Fr. David
