Year of St. Joseph
From the Desk of Father David
Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Today, December 13th is the feast of St. Lucy. Her name means light and she is associated with helping those with impaired vision and virgins. May we pray for all those whose world is growing dark because of loss of physical or spiritual vision. The following is a prayer you might want to use:
Ever loving Father, you have given us St. Lucy, virgin and martyr as a heavenly patron of those afflicted with eye diseases. By her merits and prayers assist all those who suffer from impaired or loss of vision. Spare us also from all temptations, and keep us always faithful to you. Grant this through Jesus, our Lord. Amen.
This past Tuesday, December 8th, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Pope Francis announced the beginning of the Year of St. Joseph (LINK). Special announcements concerning St. Joseph seem to be made always on a Marian Feast. This action reminds us of their love for each other and the sacredness of married life. Our parish has a second website that honors St. Joseph. Please visit this website at StJosephOurGuide.org. It is my hope that this year will bring us closer to Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Loving Father we, Your children, ask You from the depths of our hearts to come to our aid and that of the whole world. May we, like so many of the Saints, realize the strength and protection that St. Joseph wants to shower upon us if we turn to him. We thank you God for the gift of Your Son, our Savior, and for His mother Mary and Jesus’ earthly father St. Joseph.
In Advent Joy,
Fr. David
