Time to Re-evaluate our Priorities

From the Desk of Father David

Dear Friends of Christ,

This quote is taken from Pope Francis’ homily, “You are calling on us to seize this time as a time for choosing.  It is not the time of your judgement, but of our judgement: a time to choose what matters and what passes away, a time to separate what is necessary from what is not.”  His words call us not to just wait for this to be all over, but to re-evaluate our priorities.  What is really important?  Are you focused on heaven?  We are called not just to choose  good but to choose the greater good.  As we reflect upon Jesus’s passion, death, and resurrection, we see Jesus choosing the greater good, even though it was the most painful path He could have chosen.  Any other path would not have redeemed the world.  Jesus found clear vision and needed strength because His strong prayer life helped Him discern between what really matters and what is acceptable.

We are called to choose the greater good.  The sacrifices we are called to make can lead to saving another person’s life.  We are called to humble ourselves and put others first.  As we pause to reflect upon Jesus’ great sacrifices for us, may we ask Him to give us His vision so we can see our lives through His eyes.  Then we can celebrate our lives and change what needs to be changed.

Lord Jesus move us through this difficult time to a new and better place. A place where our values are Your values, our focus is Your focus.  Come Lord Jesus and save us.

In Christ,

Fr. David
