Retreat … a time to stop and refocus

From the Desk of Father David

Dear Friends in Christ,

A retreat is a time to step aside from what you normally do and focus on God and prayer.  When we had our evening of prayer dedicated to the Holy Spirit on June 17th parishioners remarked, it was like a mini-retreat and we left with a sense of peace.  Because of the positive response to this evening I decided that to schedule a “mini-retreat” every month.  The next one will be on July 31st.  I know this is a very busy time because we are getting ready to start Summerfest the next day.  Since we are dependent on God to keep our workers and visitors safe, bless us with good weather and bless those who come, we need to stop and spend time with God.  The schedule for the evening is: 6:00 to 6:45pm there will be adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and time for confessions, 7:00pm Mass followed by reflection, silence and guided meditation using the method of

St. Ignatius.  The evening will conclude at 8:30.  Even if you are unable to spend the full time, come for any part and spend time with Jesus.

Please keep me in your prayers as I will be on retreat this week and next week going to a workshop on “Holy Wisdom: Divine Light for Our Times.”

May the Holy Trinity inspire us to do the life-giving will of God.  May the Fourteen Holy Helpers and all the Saints bless us, our families and our world.

  In God’s peace,

Fr. David
