Focus on the Holy Spirit
From the Desk of Father David
Dear Friends in Christ,
Today, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. Today is also a great day to remember when the Holy Spirit was poured on us at our Baptism and Confirmation. The Holy Spirit has and always will be our guide. Jesus says the Spirit is like the wind, you do not see where it comes from or where it is going, but you do see its’ effects. Only when we stop and reflect can we see the effects of the Holy Spirit and receive the guidance we need in these troubled times. When the Spirit is present we find unity, because the Spirit of God is fulfilling Jesus’ prayer that we would be one. With all the difficulties and persecutions the early Church faced we see unity. Believers who were not going to let go of their faith or other beliefs. Together they we going forward with God’s guidance. You can also see this unity at other times in Church history. This is a time to unite and support one another.
Therefore, I would like to invite you to a special evening of prayer, reflection and sharing on June 17th at 7pm The purpose of this evening is for us to strengthen our unity with God and each other. This evening will help build a stronger bond by praying, reflecting, and sharing together. The evening will focus on the Holy Spirit. Since this is the first time of creating such an evening, please pray that I will be open to the Spirit’s guidance.
Come Holy Spirit and unleash Your sevenfold gifts of Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding, Right Judgement, Courage, Wonder and Awe and Reverence on us and the whole world. As we will by the Spirit, may the Fruits of the Holy Spirit: charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, calmness in the face of suffering or adversity, mildness, faith, modesty, contingency, and chastity grow within our hearts and in the hearts of every person.
In Easter joy,
