Your time for action … 13-Jan-2019

From the Desk of Father David

Dear Friends in Christ,

Our Baptismal Vows call us to take an active role in fighting evil and living for the Holy Trinity.  Listed below are some ways to live these vows.

This Monday, January 14th at 7:00 we have our first meeting exploring the process of setting up a parish council.  The goal of the Parish Council is to give a stronger voice to the parishioners in planning the future of Fourteen Holy Helpers programs and activities.  I encouraged everyone to come.

We are starting a men’s group to support men in their role to be men for God.  As a man they are called in a special way to mirror God the Father as Jesus did, defend the family by being a good husband and loving father.  Our first gathering will be January 31st at 7 pm in my living room.  Please use the front door of the rectory.  All men are invited.

On January 28th we are going to a parish wide meeting at 7pm in the Church.  At this meeting I will discuss 2018 and my hopes for 2019.  Then there will be time for you to share your ideas, questions and comments.  I am encouraging everyone to come.

At the last prayer session, the decision was made to move in a new direction.  Instead of me picking the theme for the month, we are going to use a program with a particular theme.  On February 4th we will be starting the program called Wisdom:God’s Vision For Life.  This program invites you to experience the transforming power of taking time to apply God’s wisdom to your own life. You will learn to see with his vision. You will experience the peace of knowing God cares for you, and you will see how God—and only God—can show you a path through any circumstance.  We will meet every other week starting February 4th at 7 pm in the convent.  There is a total of eight sessions.  You will need a Bible.  Please RSVP the rectory if you plan on attending so we can purchase the needed materials.

May Almighty God guide us with His unfailing Spirit.

In Christmas joy,

Fr. David
