Let Us Give Thanks … 18-Nov-2018

From the Desk of Father David

Dear Friends in Christ,

In a world that is quickly forgetting Thanksgiving, we need to give thanks for all of our blessings. The Scriptures frequently tells us to give thanks always. This theme is proclaimed in every Mass, during the preface the priest says “Let us give thanks to the Lord our God” and you respond “it is right and just.” Many times the priest continues with “It is our duty and our salvation to always give you thanks…” Giving thanks should become a part of our daily routine for many reasons. The first and most important is because God asked us to do it. He knows that giving thanks creates a stronger bond between God and us. Second reasons is that the medical fields’ research has shown that those who develop a grateful heart are physically, emotionally and spiritually healthier.

As we prepare for Thanksgiving day, let us make the commitment to really be thankful for life and all it contains. So many times we focus  only on what is wrong that we miss what is right and beautiful. Developing a grateful heart also develops an eyesight that sees beauty everywhere. Try this, think about events in your life and frequently pause to say “thank you Jesus.”

Come to Mass and give thanks; remember Thanksgiving Day Mass is at 10:00 am. The Staff and myself wish you a happy and blessed Thanksgiving. May St. Christopher protect all those who are traveling.

May Almighty God, Father, Son, and Spirit descend upon our gatherings and bless them with peace, laughter and healing and help us remember all we have is a gift from you.

Sincerely,

Fr. David
