Hope is important … 21-Oct-2018
From the Desk of Father David
Dear Friends in Christ,
How important is it to have hope? The other day, I was talking to a gentleman about the need for Church members to help improve the world. He responded by saying it hasn’t done any good so far for the youth. A young adult overheard his comment and joined the conversation by saying that she and many of her peers realized that their lives are empty and lonely. She continued by saying that they are looking for someone to fill that void. The gentleman thought it was hopeless and was not willing to try anything and the young lady was making a plea for us to not give up. Only with hope do we see the many beautiful possibilities that lie in front of us. Where do we find hope? We find hope in Jesus, because all things are possible for God. Jesus promised to be our shepherd and asks us to attune our ears to His voice and follow Him. I have hope because of the way our volunteers, our confirmation candidates, our welcoming parish tries to live the Gospel’s message. All of them are pointing to Christ who takes our simple acts of love and multiplies them into a great harvest.
May we never lose hope in these troubled times, for Christ is the light of the world and no darkness can extinguish it.
In Christ’s peace,
Fr. David
