Choices effect our lives … 26-Aug-2018

From the Desk of Father David

Dear Friends in Christ,

Some years ago I had a young man come to me and share that he was angry with his parents for not trusting him. I asked if he had been lying to his parents and he said yes. I told him, he should be upset with himself because his lying weakened His parents’ ability to trust him. Our choices and those of others effect our lives. We must remember that we have the power to choose how we respond to other’s actions. In the Gospels we see Jesus choosing how He will respond to people ridiculing and even trying to kill him. In Sunday’s readings we see people finding Jesus’ teachings hard to accept so they choose to leave Him and go back to their previous way of life. Jesus’ reaction is one of staying calm and respecting their choice even though they are turning away from Him and eternal life.

It is always important to review the choices we make because initially a bad choices look like a good choices. This week look at the choices we are making and the way we respond to others. Are we Christ like, are we acting as children of God?

May Jesus help us to see clearly so we can avoid bad choices and make good ones for ourselves and those we love.

Peace,

Fr. David
