The Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist … 03-June-2018
From the Desk of Father David
Dear Friends in Christ,
We celebrate the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ today. This great feast reminds us of Jesus’ outstanding love for each of us. Jesus feeds us with His own body, blood, soul and divinity. The closest action we have on earth is when a mother breast feeds her child. She gives of herself so the child could have life. Jesus gives totally of Himself so we could have the fullness of life now and forever.
At the time of the preparation of the gifts, the bread and wine symbolize our joys and sorrows, the collection symbolizes our time and talents. During the Eucharistic prayer the priest invokes the Holy Spirit to come down upon the gifts of bread and wine and transform them into Jesus. The priest is also invoking the Holy Spirit to transform us into the mystical Body of Christ. We are challenged to make Christ physically present in our world through our words and actions.
My prayer for you is that your faith in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist will grow deeper with each passing day and as it grows may you experience God’s pure love for you. May this love strengthen you fully each day.
In Christ’s love,
Fr. David
